User Reviews

The Wing-Q app is seen as a useful live-mixing tool for IEMs and worship setups, with users noting improvements over time and overall value. However, multiple reviewers cite recurring problems that hamper live use: no portrait mode, disappearing channel labels after updates, unreliable connectivity to Wing hardware, tiny faders and unreadable text on phones, and significant battery drain. Some updates have worsened usability. Overall, it can work well when functioning, but reliability and UX issues drive calls for portrait support, stable labeling, robust connectivity, larger controls, and better power management.
Pros
  • Useful live mixing tool for IEMs and rehearsals that is valued by worship teams and musicians.
  • Has improved over time and remains a valuable tool according to multiple users.
  • Generally regarded as a great product by some reviewers who rely on it for live setups.
Cons
  • Orientation is limited to landscape; no portrait mode, making it hard to use on iPhone for reading charts and adjusting ears.
  • Channel labels/names disappear after updates, and color-coding is lost, making it hard to identify channels during a mix.
  • Unreliable connectivity to Wing hardware with frequent disconnects and 'Getting Data' errors; often requires manual IP entry or workaround.
  • UI elements (faders and text) are too small on phones, making it hard to read and manipulate controls.
  • Significant battery drain and occasional overheating; power management is a persistent issue for real-time use.
Recent reviews
I agree with the previous review by Doug. There’s a lot that has been improved in this mixing app and it is a useful app. When does it stop being useful? *When you try to turn your iPad to portrait.* This should be an easy fix. If that were added, five stars.

We recently got our wing board setup. It has been running well. We are coming from the x32 and using my monitor app as the x32 app had some changes and issues. I will summarize by saying this, you have done almost everything right in this app except one big thing. “Orientation” We use this for our singers and musicians on the platform. We use IEM like most do. We also use planning center music stand for our lyric and charts. These are done on iPads. My issue as the leader is with the orientation of the wing q app. I have to rotate my iPad to landscape mode to use the app. This is a pain! My singers that run the app on their phones hate this as well. You have done so much right, please release an update that allows portrait mode. We need this!
