User Reviews

Users value QMix-UC for giving musicians direct control of their own monitor mixes and for being well-designed and handy when it works. However, multiple reviews repeatedly flag reliability and connectivity problems—especially on iPhones—along with landscape/orientation issues, compatibility gaps (iPhone/iPad), and battery drain. Updates frequently regress features or disable functionality, and responses from Presonus appear slow. In short: the app can be a powerful live-monitor tool in stable network environments, but widespread reliability concerns, device compatibility, and update-related regressions drive most negative sentiment.
Pros
  • Gives musicians direct control over their own monitor mixes (personal monitoring).
  • Handy, well-thought-out design features like the Me/Band wheel for easy level control.
  • Solid performance in stable Wi‑Fi setups, enabling reliable live mixing within the StudioLive ecosystem.
  • Useful integration with StudioLive hardware and gear in supported setups.
  • Can be a powerful live-monitor tool for performers when it works.
Cons
  • Reliability problems: frequent bugs, unstable performance, and connectivity failures (e.g., cannot connect to the mixer).
  • UI/orientation issues: landscape mode often not working on iPhones and no iPad version available.
  • Battery drain and high resource usage on devices.
  • Updates frequently regress functionality (sliders become greyed out or features disappear) and fixes can be slow.
  • Limited developer communication and slow/absent updates for several generations of hardware.

This app has had multiple issues since I bought my Presonus StudioLive 24R a year ago. Failures connecting, failures updating, failures launching. I can now only get the app to connect with an outdated version on an old Samsung tablet. My new iPhone and iPad will not connect. This is a deal breaker when it IS the control surface for the mixer. How am I supposed to use my $1,000 mixer when the free app interface is worthless?
