User Reviews

Users broadly view ProtectAd as harmful. Repeated calendar spam and fake virus alerts are the main problems, with reports of paid charges and pushy subscriptions. Many say it’s hard or impossible to uninstall and fear credential/theft risks. Several advise removing the suspicious calendar account in Settings to fix the issue. A small minority claim it may stop some notifications after following steps, but overall sentiment is negative and warnings about scams are common.
Pros
  • Some reviewers report a workaround by removing the spam calendar account via Settings → Calendar → Accounts.
  • A minority claim it may stop or reduce notifications after following these steps, suggesting a possible benefit.
Cons
  • Causes constant calendar-based spam notifications and fake virus alerts.
  • Pushes paid subscriptions or activation fees; reports of unauthorized charges (e.g., 3$ or 9.99).
  • Widely described as a scam or malware; many users urge others not to download.
  • Difficult or nearly impossible to uninstall the app.
  • Risk of phishing or credential theft (e.g., attempts to obtain Apple ID) via bogus prompts.
