User Reviews

WATCH LINK reliably streams Apple Watch heart rate to bike computers and Apple Health, offering a chest-strap-free, easy setup with strong support and wide compatibility. However, Bluetooth reliability with the Pod, placement sensitivity, inconsistent setup guidance, occasional iOS update bugs, and a limitation on concurrent app usage are recurring pain points noted by users.
Pros
  • Real-time heart rate transfer from Apple Watch to bike computers (e.g., Garmin Edge, Wahoo Element) and Zwift, eliminating the need for a chest strap.
  • Easy setup and quick pairing with strong out-of-the-box performance; often described as easier than competing solutions.
  • Responsive and helpful customer support that issues timely fixes and updates.
  • Broad device compatibility, including Apple Health integration to reflect activity data and support for multiple devices/environments (Hydrow, Zwift, Peloton, etc.).
  • No chest strap required; comfortable and convenient alternative for long rides.
Cons
  • Pod-based Bluetooth connections can be unreliable with certain head units or setups, leading to dropouts or failed connections.
  • Pod placement matters (works best near chest; in jersey pockets or elsewhere reliability can drop), reducing consistency during rides.
  • Onboarding and device-connection instructions are inconsistent across devices, causing confusion during setup.
  • iOS updates can introduce bugs or crashes (e.g., iOS 26 issues) and require follow-up fixes.
  • Cannot run Apple Health/Watch activity and WATCH LINK simultaneously, limiting multi-app HR data usage during workouts.

I added this app so I can monitor my heart rate with my Nordictrack equipment. The blue tooth works great connecting to the elipitcal and bike. I had one hiccup with an iOS update, support got back to me immediately.

I've had both the usb and pod for a few years, and while the usb is reliable, the pod being used with a Karoo bike computer became highly unreliable. It would often never connect even after restarting the app, restarting the bike computer, connect from my watch, connect from my phone, reconnecting to the Karoo, or it would just come in and out of connection through the ride if it did connect initially. After reaching out to support, they said it might be too far from the head unit, which ignores the fact it worked reliably for a long time, and also curious they'd sell something potentially unable to hold a connection regardless of where it's stored on a bike. After so much troubleshooting, too many rides without heart rate data, and support unwilling to resolve it.. i'm done. I get there's a lot of complexity trying to get all these proprietary connections to play nice together, but at some point it's just not worth it if it doesn't work reliably.

I went from a Garmin watch to an Apple Watch. I hated the Garmin but started sweating when I realized it was no easy feat to get my heart rate incorporated into my Garmin Edge cycling workouts. The Watch Link is great. I put a rubber band through the little handle on the POD and keep it attached to my Edge when in the house so I don’t misplace it. I toss it in my handlebar bag when riding. I just have to start a Watch Link workout on my watch and I’m good to go.
