User Reviews

Many reviews praise the Pro version for reliable, dropout-free connections (especially for Zwift with Apple Watch) but multiple recurring issues undermine consistency: frequent disconnects with Peloton/Garmin/Echelon, ads hindering free use, limited iPad/Health support, lengthy setup, and slow or absent developer response. Overall reliability is inconsistent despite some positive experiences when it connects.
Pros
  • Pro version delivers reliable connection with immediate pairing and no dropouts during workouts (e.g., Zwift).
  • When it connects, the app works well with supported hardware like Apple Watch for workouts, delivering a smooth experience.
  • Users report positive results and that the app can work great for daily use when it does connect.
Cons
  • Unreliable connectivity and frequent disconnects with Peloton, Garmin, Echelon, and other devices; sometimes won’t reconnect or records 0 minutes.
  • Ad-supported free version requires ads to function and ad-blocker issues can prevent usage; some ads (sponsors) are considered inappropriate by users.
  • Limited platform support: no iPad UI and Health data not supported on iPad; health data duplication can occur when saving workouts.
  • Significant setup time and trial-and-error to pair devices, leading to wasted minutes per workout.
  • Perceived lack of ongoing development or support; long periods without updates or responsive support, with known compatibility issues (e.g., Peloton) not being addressed.

I have an Apple Watch Series 1 that I use for heart rate monitoring in Zwift. My watch is stuck at WatchOS 6.3 and Zwift stopped supporting it in late 2022. I switched to the free HeartCast app and that worked OK but was glitchy and had many brief dropouts. With the last iPhone update to OS 17.3.1, HeartCast disappeared from my watch and according to the App Store, BlueHeart was the only app still supporting my watch. With the free version, the ad would not display so the app wouldn't work. I paid for the Pro version in hopes that it would work and it worked perfectly - connecting immediately and no dropouts during my Zwift ride 👍 I took off one star for the ad-supported version not working and will update later if I have any issues.

Does not work. Do not buy. Wasted workout time.

Love the app, works great! Note that you have to disable adblockers for it to work properly. I also have to power cycle my treadmill after each session. I think these two solutions will resolve 95% of the issues people run into. I use it every day! My only request for the app is it would be amazing if it could increase the frequency that it reads / broadcasts my heart rate as the competitor app does.
