User Reviews

Users broadly praise Spoonful as a helpful, easy-to-use tool that speeds shopping and supports diverse dietary needs, but reliability concerns persist. Key recurring issues are data accuracy (especially FODMAP labeling and allergy notes), incomplete product coverage, confusing billing practices, and occasional scanning glitches that disrupt use.
Pros
  • Helpful for managing a variety of dietary restrictions (FODMAP, gluten-free, celiac, allergies, alpha-gal) and related conditions.
  • User-friendly and fast to scan, delivering immediate results.
  • Saves time by reducing the need to read long ingredient lists and helps quick decision-making.
  • Allows quick addition of new products to keep the database up to date.
Cons
  • Data accuracy and reliability concerns, especially around FODMAP labeling and allergen detection.
  • Subscription model and billing friction, including frequent prompts to start a trial and potential double billing.
  • Incomplete product coverage and occasional false negatives or missing gluten-free indicators.
  • Intermittent scanning reliability issues that disrupt shopping (sometimes requiring re-purchases or restarting).

I downloaded a trial for this app. It wasn’t useful to me. Unfortunately, I did not cancel in time and now I’m stuck with a $30 app that I have no use for. I submitted a refund request through Apple , twice, and was denied. There is no way to contact this company or the developers. Download at your own risk or you will also be $30 poorer.
