Review summary

Players praise the writing, lore, and branching, choice-driven storytelling across multiple campaigns, with replayability and engaging fantasy worlds. The game is easy to learn and enjoyable in short sessions. However, reviews frequently cite monetization friction (ads, subscriptions, dual currencies, energy gating) and technical bugs (crashes, data loss), plus requests for an optional narration feature and the ability to craft custom campaigns. Overall, a strong concept with quality writing, tempered by monetization and stability issues.
Pros
  • Branching, choice-driven storytelling across multiple campaigns and characters, with choices affecting outcomes and even allowing rewinds using luck points.
  • Strong writing and lore, with varied perspectives and a rich medieval fantasy setting.
  • Engaging, accessible interactive fiction that is easy to pick up and play in short sessions.
  • High replayability thanks to multiple storylines/characters and ongoing content updates.
  • Overall updates and new content add value and can be worth the purchase.
Cons
  • Monetization can feel aggressive and confusing: ads, a subscription option, two different gold currencies, and energy gating that pushes purchases.
  • Technical issues like crashes between chapters and loss of coins after updates.
  • Lack of an in-game narrated/AI-audio reader for the stories.
  • No option to create custom campaigns; limited to premade stories.

2026-06-15 No***** Rogue’s Choice and Wizard’s Choices were great, but the Ranger’s Choice was clearly written by AI. It goes on and on and on, stringing the player along with an interminable mystery and cliche phrases that an AI uses. Lots of descriptions and vague words by the characters, and the “a beat” phrasing in response to surprise by characters just gives this all away. Not to mention that the Ranger’s Choice series hasn’t been finished after four or more years. Don’t invest money into this.

2026-04-27 Re***** Good game, played this when it was new, I kept dying because of poor choices but it was still fun. I forgot about for too long, came back to see what’s new and I can say it’s still one of the beast RPG’s around.
