User Reviews

The reviews praise the core concept, engaging story, and solid design, noting the game is enjoyable and has potential. However, they consistently flag monetization as overly restrictive, a confusing dice mechanic, writing quality issues, limited branching, and several UI/technical bugs. Together these suggest a promising premise hampered by paywalls, unclear dice rules, and polish gaps, with many calling for more free access or ads, clearer dice explanations, better proofreading, fewer linear paths, and smoother onboarding.
Pros
  • Interesting concept and an engaging story with interesting characters.
  • Strong UI/design that stands out and feels well crafted for a choose-your-adventure style.
  • Offers replay potential and meaningful choices that can affect outcomes.
  • Overall enjoyable narrative with noticeable potential for future content and improvements.
Cons
  • Monetization/paywall is restrictive and free chapters are short; users suggest ads as an alternative.
  • Difficult to understand dice system; results seem inconsistent and unclear how successes are determined.
  • Frequent grammar and spelling issues, plus concerns about AI-generated art/graphics quality.
  • Choices feel limited and the narrative can feel linear rather than true branching.
  • Bugs and UI problems hinder onboarding and play (start button sometimes missing, persistent UI bars, etc.).

The concept is really interesting and the layout and gameplay are better than most choose your own adventures on iOS. But there are a few issues. 1) the dice is weird. It took me a chapter and a half to realize that 43% success was if I rolled a 43 or lower I succeeded. I would explain that to players on the first dice roll. 2) it’s really disheartening when you fail so many dice rolls in a row. I get that the success rate is low because you need to get your stats better, but you also have to keep people engaged in the first couple of chapters and if they keep failing dice rolls and they feel like they’re missing out on the story they’re not going to want to continue playing. 3) I get that you want to make money off the game and I don’t fault you for that but saying that “this is the last free chapter” does not make me want to continue playing as a free player. Especially since the first chapter was so short. Most games don’t let you know that the following chapters are priced until you get there. Also I think there should be options for free players like watching ads. You would get more money from ads then you would by people not playing because it’s not free. But it is a good game. Interesting story and has great potential

The dice rolls are SUPER annoying. I have no idea what dice I’m rolling, but I’ve had results as high as 92- on something that looks like a D20? How can the same check fail on an 88 & 92, but succeed on a 42? Is it the opposite of D&D, and we’re trying to roll low instead of high? If the numbers on the dice are a combination of the number rolled with modifiers added, than DON’T. Just use the (presumably?) D20 like a D20 and show me what I rolled- a number between 1 & 20. It doesn’t need to be complicated, but if you do want to complicate it, at least add an explanation. As it is now, I have no idea what I’m trying to roll for, and it ruins the game.
