User Reviews

Users broadly praise Iron for its simple, free, and highly customizable workout logging with a clean UI. It’s beginner-friendly and offers useful features like a built-in timer and progress tracking. The main downsides are missing content: no cardio options and few forearm/lower-back exercises, with many asking for more variety. Occasional UI quirks and integration issues (Apple Health) are noted but do not outweigh the overall positive sentiment.
Pros
  • Simple, minimalist design that’s easy to use.
  • Free with no subscription, offering strong value.
  • Excellent for tracking workouts and progress (logging, timer between sets).
  • Highly customizable; you can add your own exercises and routines.
  • Beginner-friendly and no ads; reliable for basic logging.
Cons
  • Missing cardio options.
  • Limited forearm and lower-back focused exercises.

Amazing app. It’s refreshing to find a simple, straightforward app that doesn’t eventually ask me to buy anything. The creator is a saint for doing this!

I’m an older woman just getting back into weight training. It’s been so long I can barely remember the names of the exercises. I think this app is perfect in terms of listing all the various exercises for different muscles, showing short “videos” of what the movements look like and setting up your entire routine. Additionally you can personalize reps and sets as well as break timers within the routine. I’m so thankful to the creators of this app for not charging a fee to use it as I wouldn’t have been able to develop a practice had that not been the case. Other training apps are so expensive and I haven’t found one as great as this one!

Never leave reviews but this deserves one. Simple. Easy to use. May not get any more updates but is customizable enough to be a complete logging app on your phone. Please never get rid of this.
