User Reviews

Overall, iOS reviews of Google Fi are largely negative. Recurrent complaints include poor customer service, billing disputes and unexplained charges, and unreliable service with slow data and roaming issues. App and eSIM management are frequently problematic, with hidden activation controls and limited features compared with the web, plus multiple eSIM complications. The 7-day free trial also tends to fail or disappoint. A small number of positive mentions exist (e.g., calls it the 'Best one' or 'not the worst' and some overseas use success), but these are rare.
Pros
  • Some reviewers describe Google Fi as the 'Best one'.
  • Some reviewers describe it as 'Not the worst'.
  • Overseas usage works well for some travelers.
Cons
  • Very poor customer service and slow or inconsistent support.
  • Frequent billing problems and unexpected charges, including charges after canceling and issues with trial billing.
  • Unreliable service with intermittent connectivity, slow data, and roaming/international issues.
  • App usability and eSIM management problems, including hidden activation button, fewer features than the web, and difficulties managing eSIMs or switching to a physical SIM.
  • 7-day free trial often fails or provides a poor experience.

I am stationed in Japan was lured over to Google Fi because of the cheap plans and being able to use all over the place. I was never even able to use the services because they couldn’t even port in my number, I got tech after tech that basically told me the exact same thing. They would monitor the situation closely and update me, yet I was the one who would constantly have to ask for timely updates, meanwhile I couldn’t even cancel the services and leave Google Fi because the port out request to join them wasn’t even processed even after 2 weeks! One of my biggest blunders was to switch to Google fi, they should honestly stick to being an internet browser and leave the phone business to the professionals.
