Features & Capabilities

Malouf Base introduces a fresh design and modern UI to simplify controlling your adjustable bed. It supports Partner Control and Siri Shortcuts (iOS 12+), and is compatible with both newer and older Structures models (E450, M550, S750, E455, M555, S755).

The extension includes improved screen settings like dark mode and sunrise-sunset auto adjust, and it lets you set up and manage sleep preferences based on bed type (single, split, and split head).

User Reviews

Users praise the app for ease of use and its ability to substitute a remote, especially with Siri Shortcuts. However, multiple reviews highlight reliability problems: frequent connectivity bugs, lag, and re-pairing needs; presets disappearing after updates; trouble pairing multiple devices; and inconsistent Siri/Watch functionality. Overall, strong convenience is hampered by persistent connectivity and feature reliability issues.
Pros
  • Easy to use and quick to set up.
  • Provides a convenient remote control substitute by mirroring most bed functions.
  • Siri Shortcuts integration enables hands‑free bed control.
  • When connected, the app responds quickly and feels comparable to using the remote.
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity issues and bugs causing lag or inability to connect.
  • Presets disappearing after updates (e.g., Zero Gravity/Anti‑Snore) or becoming inaccessible, with limited restoration options.
  • Problems with pairing multiple devices to the same bed and login/pairing friction across iOS devices.
  • Siri Shortcuts and automation can be unreliable or inconsistent (commands may not work, lock screen shortcuts often fail).
  • Inconsistent compatibility across Apple devices (some users report iPhone/Watch issues) and uneven support across platforms.

This app will suffice as a remote control substitute, but you’ll have to put up with lots of bugs. Pros: * Easy to use * Mirrors most remote functions * Siri Shortcuts integration Cons: * Buggy * Command lag When you start the app, you are asked to select which bed you want to control. This is the stupidest screen to have to tap through every time— maybe just notice that I only own one bed and automatically select it? You know, like 99% of the people on the planet? Once you get past the first screen, the layout of the app is odd to say the least. For example, the presets screen, which is basically a sub-tab of the unlabeled positioning (I guess?) tab, has large blank spaces where one would expect zero-gravity and anti snore presets to be. Despite the weirdness, it’s easy to use, and you won’t have any trouble finding most of the remote control functionality mirrored in the app. Nor is there a bunch of fluff trying to make the app more than it needs to be. Adjustments have a noticeable lag, though I suspect that this is a hardware or communications issue rather than an app issue. Plenty of other issues are probably attributable to the app, though. For example, other reviewers have mentioned connectivity problems. This is indeed a frequent issue, but I have noticed that some commands work more reliably than others, and can help the app to recover a connection. This behavior is strong evidence of app bugs rather than hardware issues. One nice feature of the app is Siri Shortcuts. “Hey Siri, flatten my bed,” works reliably for me in the morning, since the phone has been near the bed all night. Shortcuts from the lock screen never seem to work, though. Also, you can’t control the bed’s night light from Siri, which is a huge miss in my opinion. The bed base itself sounds like an electric window raised to the volume of a Vitamix, so I’d imagine the anti snore feature works well by simply waking you up. I wouldn’t know, though, because I don’t snore.

Want to adjust my position while I’m sick in bed, but I have to go through a bunch of logins first. Would love to see a widget

I’ve used this app for over a year as my primary way to adjust my bed (s750). I opened it a couple months ago to find two preset options missing 1) the custom 2) setting and 2) the lounger setting. I’d like these back please.
