Features & Capabilities

Redpoint: Bouldering, Climbing is the ultimate climbing tracker that automatically records your sessions on Apple Watch or iPhone. It syncs with HealthKit so workouts appear in Health and Workouts apps, helping you close your daily rings while you train. After each climb you’ll see detailed metrics such as overall height, heart rate, duration, maximum ascent height, ascent speed, and route difficulty, plus personalized training suggestions tailored to your goals.

The app runs on-device ML to classify climbing movements on the Watch and uses the built-in barometer to measure altitude. It supports Bouldering, Top Rope, Sport, Trad, Alpine, Free Solo, and more. Subscriptions are available in two options (3-month and annual), with auto-renewal and standard iTunes terms, and privacy is provided at the link: https://redpoint-app.com/privacy.

User Reviews

Users praise the app for accurate, easy climb tracking and strong Apple Watch integration, plus usefulness for travelers. However, repeated issues persist: gyms and routes often missing or not added, with little or no response from support; frequent crashes and unreliable session logging; inconsistent syncing to Strava and watch-to-phone transfers; unit and editing bugs (feet/meters, altimeter, edits not sticking). While some bugs have been addressed, core reliability and data maintenance remain key drawbacks.
Pros
  • Accurate, easy-to-use climb tracking.
  • Strong Apple Watch integration with HealthKit.
  • Simple UI for logging climbs.
  • Useful for travelers and tracking climbs across multiple gyms.
  • Overall value for climbers who rely on digital tracking.
Cons
  • Gym data is frequently missing or outdated; gym additions/updates often unaddressed by support.
  • Frequent crashes and reliability issues (logging stops, freezes, watch-to-phone transfer problems).
  • Inconsistent or failed syncing to Strava and across devices.
  • Unit and editing bugs (switching between metric/imperial, altimeter issues, edits not sticking).
  • Limited or slow developer responsiveness to support inquiries.

I absolutely love this app. The accuracy of auto tracking is fantastic. UX is really well designed and easy to use. The only problem I have right now is that the Strava integration has been broken for a month. Hope that can be fixed soon!

Sync to strava has been buggy for years. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. You can try all the troubleshooting you find on the internet it simply wont work for a while. Then itll work couple weeks later. These devs do not respond to emails or reviews quickly. I dont understand how they never added a manual sync or manual upload feature for years now.
