User Reviews

HeavySet is a long-standing, feature-rich gym workout log praised for its depth, customization, and offline data with Apple Health support and solid one-time payment value. However, multiple reviews cite stability issues after updates, ongoing crashes, and poor developer support, plus concerns about lost lifetime purchases. Users also point to missing features (Watch/iPad, certain exercise types) and perceived upgrade-driven design, alongside occasional UX quirks. The app remains strong for serious lifters but needs ongoing maintenance and broader platform support.
Pros
  • Extensive feature set for tracking workouts, progression, 1RM calculations, and RPE with deep customization for serious lifters.
  • Clear, generous controls and intuitive UI that works well in a gym environment.
  • Local data with no mandatory cloud login; strong data portability (export/import, copy/paste) and Apple Health integration.
  • One-time payment options (lifetime upgrade) and strong perceived value for long-time users.
  • Reliable core logging and routine design that supports complex splits and custom exercises.
Cons
  • Lack of ongoing updates leading to instability: app has crashed, closed, or reset mid-workout and some users report no recent updates.
  • Subscriptions and support issues: lifetime purchases can vanish or fail to restore, with limited or unresponsive developer support.
  • Removal of useful features and upgrade-pressure: import feature removed and perceived push toward paying for upgrades.
  • Missing features and platform support: no Apple Watch or iPad version, limited support for planks/timed bodyweight exercises and RPE logging.
  • UX inconsistencies and occasional confusion in the interface.

I used this app for many many years. It’s doing exactly what you are expecting from a fitness tracking app. Tracks your progress. Shows 1 RM max. Has pause timer. Workouts. All you need. No cloud login or any Bull.. needed. Great app. This one I will really miss on Android

I’ve tried over 10 different lifting apps and this is by far the best that you can get out of a free app. I went ahead and paid for the lifetime option which is also the best value compared to everything I’ve tried.
