Hulga cultivation is suitable for light and medium orchards and well drained soils. Cultivation of this crop in wetlands, loamy soils should be avoided.

Deep plowing should be done in summer.
Apply 5 tons of manure / compost per hectare. After the deer rains, the family should be given two shifts.

Seed rate per hectare: 12 to 15 kg.

Seed treatment - Rub 2 gms of Thirum + 2 gms of Carbendazim per 1 kg of seeds followed by 250 gms of Rhizobium Bacterial culture 10 to 15 kg of seeds should be rubbed with cold solution of jaggery.

Only chemical fertilizers like 12-15 kg N and 25-30 kg P should be given. That is, apply 75 kg DAP per hectare at the time of sowing.

The first hoeing should be done when the crop is 20-25 days old and the second hoeing should be done when it is 30-35 days old.

The crop should be kept weed free for 30 to 35 days after sowing.
