HMDIA Note – Smart Notes for Every Website

By: HMDIA Add-on
Create local-first Global, website, and page notes with rich text, reminders, password protection, backups, and optional encrypted Google Drive sync.

Features & Capabilities

HMDIA Note turns Firefox into a private, local-first notebook connected to your browsing context. Capture ideas, tasks, research, and reminders without leaving your browser.

Create notes for exactly where you need them:

  • Global notes: available on every website
  • Domain notes: available throughout one website
  • Page notes: connected to a specific URL
Key features:
  • Rich-text editor with paragraphs, headings, bold, italic, underline, lists, numbered lists, checklists, and links
  • Screen-picked and manually selected text colors
  • One-time and recurring reminders with Firefox notifications
  • Search and filter across saved notes
  • Table and gallery viewing modes
  • Pinned notes, drafts, Archive, and Trash
  • Password protection for individual notes
  • Plain and password-encrypted backup import and export
  • Popup, movable-window, and Firefox sidebar interfaces
  • Adjustable popup size
  • Light and dark themes
  • Keyboard shortcut for quick access
Local-first and private by default

Notes and settings are stored locally in Firefox by default. No account or payment is required for local note-taking.

Optional Premium features

A separately purchased HMDIA Note Premium license unlocks:

  • Colored tags and tag filtering
  • Additional appearance customization
  • Encrypted synchronization through your own Google Drive account
Google Drive access is requested only when you choose to connect it. HMDIA Note uses Google Drive’s private application-data folder and cannot access your regular Drive files. Synchronization data is encrypted in your browser before upload.

HMDIA does not receive or store your synchronized note content, Google Drive files, synchronization password, or encryption key.

Why permissions are requested

  • Storage saves notes and settings locally.
  • Tabs and active-tab access identify whether a note belongs to the current website or page.
  • Alarms and notifications deliver reminders.
  • Scripting and optional website access support the user-initiated screen color picker.
  • Identity is used only when the user chooses to connect Google Drive.
Premium features require a separately purchased license. Google Drive synchronization also requires a Google account and an internet connection.

User Reviews

I had been looking for an extension like this for a long time! HMDIA Note makes it easy to keep notes directly in the browser while visiting different websites. As a bonus, it also includes a pick color from screen feature, which is incredibly useful when I need to identify an exact color. Simple, practical, and very helpful!
