User Reviews

Highlight is praised for being easy to use, reliable, and providing a clear highlighting workflow with helpful UX cues and a convenient Alt+A shortcut. However, multiple reviews flag issues with dark-mode readability, repeated errors loading highlights, and data loss after reloads or Firefox resets. ALT+A cursor toggling bugs and inconsistent behavior are noted. Users also seek backup/export/import capabilities and more color options to improve contrast, especially on dark backgrounds.
Pros
  • Easy to use and user-friendly.
  • Reliable and effective highlighting; works well across pages.
  • Shows cursor indicator when in highlighter mode and preserves page layout.
  • Supports a keyboard shortcut for quick highlighting (Alt+A).
Cons
  • Poor visibility on dark themes / dark mode; highlights hard to read.
  • Recurring error messages: 'There was an error loading your highlights. Please try refreshing'.
  • Highlights can be lost after page reloads or Firefox resets.
  • ALT+A toggle/cursor behavior bugs (cursor not switching to I-beam, broken toggle in some Firefox versions).

I love this but I think something is wrong because I can't find the option to delete highlights?? please, I need to be able to make mistakes 😂 EDIT: refreshing the page fixed it but it's not the first time I've had this issue so I think the addon may be slightly unstable at this point. still works I guess!
