Haze Firefox

Haze

By: sal Add-on
Blur, scratchcard, or hide anything on any website. Peek on hover or click, and toggle it all off in one click.

Features & Capabilities

Haze lets you blur, scratchcard, or hide any element on any website - and reveal it on demand.

Point at something you don't want to see, pick it, and Haze conceals it. Hover (or click) to peek, or hide it outright. Flip the master switch to bring everything back instantly. Your rules are remembered per site, and editable right from the toolbar popup.

WHAT IT'S FOR

  • Spoilers - scores, episode counts, results, plot details
  • Ratings & reviews - decide for yourself before you see the number
  • Prices - shop without anchoring
  • Social counts - hide likes, followers, view counts
  • Screen-sharing privacy - blur API keys, balances, or personal info before you present
  • Sensitive or NSFW imagery
  • Anything else you'd rather not see until you choose to

THREE WAYS TO CONCEAL

  • Blur - a soft blur you can peek behind
  • Scratchcard - blur plus an opaque cover; hover or click to scratch it off
  • Hide - remove the element from the page entirely

HOW IT WORKS

  • Click the Haze icon, then "Pick element to blur"
  • Move your mouse to the target; use the up / down arrows to widen or tighten the selection
  • Choose blur, scratchcard, or hide - and hover or click to reveal
  • Tweak or toggle any rule right in the popup, or manage everything (per rule, per site, or globally) in the options page
  • Export and import your rules as JSON

BUILT-IN RULE Haze is the successor to "Hide Ratings" and ships with one ready-made rule that blurs the review stars and ratings in Google Search results. Toggle it off if you don't want it, or build your own rules on any site with the picker.

PRIVACY Haze does not collect, sell, or transmit any data. Your rules and settings live in your browser (synced by your browser account if you use sync). Haze only runs on sites you explicitly allow - it asks for access to a site the first time you pick an element there.

Is Haze Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Haze requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Haze is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
