ElementHider

Hides elements that contain keywords set by user

Features & Capabilities

ElementHider is a powerful Chrome extension designed to help users hide or blur web elements and ads based on user-specified keywords. Whether you want to block certain Twitter posts, news articles, Facebook updates, or Twitch comments containing particular words, ElementHider offers a seamless way to customize your browsing experience.

Users can choose to either hide elements completely or blur them with the option to reveal on mouse hover. The extension supports both case-sensitive and case-insensitive matching, with precise keyword matching options to control exact appearances. A handy testing mode highlights elements set for hiding with green borders so users can preview before applying changes. Although it boasts a high success rate, compatibility may vary depending on website structure. Open-source and available on Chrome Web Store, it integrates jQuery to enhance element selection and filtering.

First, to answer Bill Baldwin's review, the place to add keywords is by clicking on the jigsaw icon for Extensions, then clicking on ElementHider or pinning it and then clicking on it. Have found this extension to work like a charm and is perfect, if one is so inclined, to hide promotions of certain AI features and to hide certain AI-related elements (like overviews and summaries) one cannot opt out of.
