User Reviews

Element Blocker is valued for effectively blocking distracting elements and its ease of use, especially with other blockers like Unhook. Common drawbacks are precision/UX issues (hard to identify blocked elements), occasional bugs where blocks reappear, lack of a global ON/OFF toggle, missing advanced targeting (manual rules, per-URL scope, regex), and limited onboarding. Overall, it’s useful but could be improved with improved UX and advanced targeting features.
Pros
  • Effectively blocks page elements to improve focus and reduce distractions.
  • Simple and easy to use, with positive overall usefulness.
  • Works well in combination with other blockers (e.g., Unhook) to block more content.
  • Capable of hiding intrusive UI elements like ads and sidebars across sites.
  • Strong user appreciation and positive feedback.
Cons
  • Imprecise hover-based element selection and very verbose CSS selectors, making it hard to tell what is blocked.
  • Blocking persistence issues where blocked elements reappear after updates or on certain sites (e.g., YouTube).
  • No global ON/OFF toggle and workflow friction requiring multiple clicks to manage blocks.
  • Missing advanced targeting options: manual rule writing, per-URL or per-domain scope, and regex support.
  • Insufficient onboarding/instructions, making the usage process unclear for new users.

Works well enough. The hover mechanic for selecting elements to block is imprecise, and the resulting CSS selectors are very verbose, making it difficult to tell which element is being blocked. If I could suggest improvements, blocking elements from the inspector, and simplified expressions would be top of the list.
