User reviews

Users find Boomerang an intuitive, simple, and effective tool for testing SOAP and REST APIs, appreciating its reliability and versatility as an alternative to SoapUI and Postman. However, several report issues with updates causing loss of saved connections or projects, errors preventing the tool from launching, and incomplete features like absent WSDL parsing. Additionally, users note a lack of documentation, which complicates usage. Overall, while highly valued, these recurring issues with updates and usability impact user experience.
Pros

  • Highly useful and effective for testing SOAP and REST APIs
  • Valued as an excellent alternative to other tools like SoapUI and Postman for SOAP requests
  • Reliable tool for years with consistent performance
  • Offers a versatile and feature-rich environment for API request planning
Cons
  • Loss of connections or projects after updates, leading to data unreliability
  • Lack of comprehensive documentation or user guide causing a learning curve
  • Post-update issues including failure to launch or load earlier projects due to errors
  • Does not auto-parse WSDL files to generate SOAP requests and parameters like some competitors (e.g., Wizdler)
  • Problems with correctly displaying or handling header data after updates

Had used Wizdlr for years (no longer supported by Chrome). Have not yet found all the features Wizdlr had, but Boomerang has proven intuitive to use so far.

Estaba encantado con la extensión, hasta que este mes he perdido todas mis conexiones 2 veces (varios meses de pruebas). Desinstalada, ya no es fiable, hacen una actualización y pierdes todo tu trabajo.

Bit disappointing. Was using Wizdler which is now being switched off by Chrome. Wizdler was able to take a WSDL file and not only find all available functions but also list all the parameters and their data types in a readymade SOAP envelope. With Boomerang, all I get is a completely empty SOAP envelope as a starting point for the request, so I've got to somehow work out the parameters and data types myself.

Extension safety

Risk impact

A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Boomerang - SOAP & REST Client requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
