Review summary

Users appreciate that the app motivates safer driving and can lower insurance costs. However, many report inconsistent and unfair scoring criteria, such as penalizing for driving times or routes beyond their control. Technical problems like trip recording failures, device pairing issues, and high battery consumption are common. Additionally, inaccurate speed limit data leads to unwanted speeding violations, making the app frustrating and unreliable for many users.
Pros
  • Encourages safer driving habits by monitoring driving behavior.
  • Offers potential for insurance cost reduction based on driving data.
  • Works as intended in recording and scoring trips when functioning properly.
Cons
  • Inconsistent and unfair scoring, often penalizing users for factors beyond their control like time of day and road types.
  • Frequent issues with trips not being recorded or uploaded, leading to lost data and unfair assessments.
  • Problems pairing the app with the car device, causing frustration and inability to receive discounts.
  • High battery and data usage due to continuous location and Bluetooth use.
  • The app misreports speed limits and speed violations, leading to unfair penalties for users.

Thank god Safe co has bought out State Auto and will remove this application. You have still not addressed your lack of taking time into account when calculating acceleration. When you have mph over more than one second, you need to normalize to one second (i.e., mph per second). This applies to hard acceleration and hard braking. 1/3 G is about 7.3 mph per second. 10/6/23 at 1:33 pm, hard braking of -13.2 mph in 2.5 seconds is less than 7.3 mph per second yet flagged as violation. Explain!

I *****
This app is trash. It keeps one starring me because of insufficient data to score even though everything is on and working. However, when it does score me half the time, I'm hit with a lower rating because of time of day, which I get off of work at 11 pm. Smoothness is always down even though I'm not hitting the brakes or the gas hard at all. Then, it will lower the score for the roads even though it's a straight shot on highway 5 for 8 minutes, which should not lower my score by any means.
