Features & Capabilities

ROS-Mobile is an Android application designed for dynamic control and visualization of mobile robotic system operated by the Robot Operating System (ROS). The application uses ROS nodes initializing publisher and subscriber with standard ROS messages. The overall code architecture pattern is Model View ViewModel (MVVM), which stabilizes the application and makes it highly customizable.

  • Very useful for controlling robots without needing a separate controller
  • Clean UI design
  • Ability to interact with rostopic easily
  • Helpful for connecting with ROS master
Cons
  • Crashes when trying to connect to master
  • IP address field does not accept domain names or alphanumeric characters
  • Sometimes does not show output for certain data types like camera and gridmap
  • Certain functionalities, like publishing and receiving data, are lacking
