MingDu is an offline Chinese reader, dictionary and learning toolkit. Paste or share Chinese text, look up words, practice stroke order and save useful vocabulary to adaptive flashcards in one app.

Practice Chinese writing
Draw characters stroke by stroke and receive immediate feedback when a stroke has the wrong shape or order. Helpful hints appear when you get stuck. Scheduled writing practice adapts future reviews to your results, while the character-page writing sandbox lets you practice without affecting your schedule.

Build flashcards that adapt to you
Create your own decks or save vocabulary from the Reader, dictionary and Word Collections. Review Chinese characters and words through recognition and recall. MingDu uses FSRS spaced repetition to schedule cards from your answers.

Designed for focused, offline learning
MingDu's dictionary, Reader, stroke-order tools, writing practice and flashcards work offline after installation. No MingDu account is required. We do not collect your texts, decks or learning history. MingDu has no first-party server, advertising or analytics tracking.

Your data stays on your device unless you export it or Android backs it up under your device settings. Backups use Android's backup service or a storage provider you choose, not MingDu's servers. Internet access may be used by Google Play for Pro purchases and restoration, or by your chosen online storage provider for backup and Reader package imports and exports. Portable app backups support optional password encryption.

MingDu Pro is an optional one-time purchase with no subscription. It unlocks all 2,500 core characters for study and removes daily review and practice limits. The Reader remains free.
