When reading Chinese, do you ever forget the pinyin or get stuck on a character you don't know?

HanziTap is a focused reading tool for Chinese text. Paste anything you want to read, an article, a message, a passage from a book, and tap any word to see its pinyin right above the character, along with a definition or translation when one is available.

How it works:
1. Open the app and paste your text (or type it in directly and tap Read)
2. Tap any Chinese word to reveal its pronunciation and meaning

Each tap cycles through up to three layers:
1. Pinyin with tone marks
2. Chinese definition, where available
3. English translation, where available
Tap again to hide and keep reading. No popups, no context switching, no leaving the page.

Read from photos:
You can take a picture with your camera, load a picture from your photo album or just paste a screenshot. The app detects all text, and you can select what you want to read.

Built for readers:
HanziTap is not a flashcard app or a grammar tutor. It's for the moment when you're reading and hit a word you don't know. The goal is to get you the information and get out of the way so you can keep reading.

Works fully offline:
The dictionary and pinyin engine are bundled with the app. No internet connection required — no lookups, no latency, no data sent anywhere.

Simplified and traditional Chinese:
Paste text in either script. HanziTap handles the conversion internally — you always see your original characters on screen.

Clean, minimal interface:
