Cozy Roll

Cozy Roll is a bindery workbench 🛠️ for anyone who wants to understand how a flat
printed sheet becomes a folded, gathered, correctly ordered book 📚 signature.

Every page starts life beside pages that are nowhere near it in the finished
volume. Getting that arrangement right is called imposition — the oldest piece
of applied geometry in printing. Cozy Roll lets you work it out by hand.

THE IMPOSITION BENCH
The bench lays a print sheet in front of you, ruled into page cells. Move the
parameter rail and the sheet re-imposes live:
• Set the fold count and step from folio through quarto, octavo, sextodecimo and
tricesimo-secundo. Folios lift into their folded positions as you go.
• Inspect any cell for its folio, recto or verso, which side of the sheet it
prints on, and its rotation. Pages that settle upside-down are drawn that way.
• Switch between work-and-turn and work-and-tumble; the gripper edge flips.
• Dial in creep (bottling) compensation and see 👀 the inner leaves shingle so the
fore-edge trims flush.
• Nest signatures and let folios run on across sections.
When a scheme folds true — every folio present, ascending, right-side-up — the
bench says so. When it does not, the offending folios light up in vermilion.
The tables are the published fine-press schemes, and every solve is checked in
code: all folios present exactly once, correct page count. Arithmetic, not
decoration.

THE FORME REGISTER
Forty-eight folding schemes, each with its geometry, its gathering order, notes 📝
on when a binder would actually reach for it, cross-references to related
schemes, and a figure plate. Any scheme in the register opens straight onto the
bench.

THE FOLDING SCHOOL
Fifteen order-gated lessons that build 🔨 from a single quarto to a nested,
creep-compensated signature. Lessons are checked against the bench itself, so
you finish by doing the fold, not by tapping "next".

THE QUIRE DRAWER
Every sheet you solve can be filed as a reusable imposition. Photograph the real
folded signature on your desk and attach it to the record, so the scheme and the
paper it produced live in the same place. Eight worked impositions are seeded to
start 🚀 you off.

THE PRESSMARKS
Ten wax-seal pressmarks, pressed for real bindery milestones 🏅 — your first true
fold, a compensated nest, a full forme, a perfect gather — announced with a
letterpress specimen card rather than a plain toast.

FOUR SPECIMEN THEMES
Foredge, Nocturne Plate, Verdigris Atelier and Sanguine Folio. Pick one and the
whole workbench 🛠️ re-tints, illustrations and all.

BUILT TO BE QUIET
• Works entirely offline 📴. There is no server, no sign-in and no account.
• No ads, no in-app 📱 purchases, no subscriptions.
• No analytics 📊, no tracking, no advertising ID.
• Everything you make — favourites, lesson 📖 progress 📈, filed impositions, attached
photos 📸, pressmarks, your theme — is stored in a database on your own device 📱
and nowhere else.
• Camera 📷 and photo 📸-library 📚 access are optional, asked for only at the moment you
tap 👆 the button that needs them, and the app 📱 keeps working if you decline.
