User Reviews

Overall, users praise Fluent Forever's method, flashcards, and pronunciation guidance, but persistent bugs, clunky UI, content gaps, and subscription issues heavily detract from the experience. The concept is strong and effective when functioning, yet reliability and content quality need major improvements.
Pros
  • Brilliant and unique Fluent Forever method provides a strong, structured approach to language learning.
  • Excellent flashcard system with spaced repetition for vocabulary retention.
  • Helpful pronunciation guidance and phonics that support accurate speaking.
  • The method is empowering and can work well for learners, including beginners.
  • Offers a comprehensive, one-stop learning approach that integrates the book-based method with digital tools.
Cons
  • Frequent bugs and stability issues: crashes, app won’t open, inconsistent behavior.
  • Poor UI/UX and slow performance that hinder daily use.
  • Content and lesson structure problems: disjointed connections between lessons, incomplete or inaccurate content, and stories/questions that don’t align.
  • Subscription, pricing, and refund headaches, plus slow or unhelpful customer support.
  • Feature gaps and reliability problems: streaks/achievements not updating, flashcards reappearing after deletion, and other inconsistent features.

wouldn't recommend for japanese for beginners. as an example of an issue, if you use flashcards for words, you'll initially be shown the image, kanji, kana, and translation. when tested later, you'll see the picture and need to select the correct kanji. this complicates things a lot, as the writing system in japanese is a huge barrier, and putting that kanji barrier in front of recognition of simple words slows things down a lot. better off just using anki.

i cannot add new words to my practice list. also, you can't reverse translate from your target language to your original language to speak 🙏
