Cogthera App

Cogthera is a mobile application and includes a multimodal intervention for adult patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild Alzheimer's dementia. The patient-centered application is intended to promote cognitive abilities. The intervention includes personalized cognitive training, dual-task movements, audio-guided meditations, and educational content.

Indications

Cogthera is designed for adults who meet criteria for mild cognitive impairment (IMCI) or mild Alzheimer's dementia.

User profile

The app is designed for ages 18 and up. Basic experience with navigating apps is required. Very good knowledge of the German language is required.

Hints

- If you have any health problems, please contact your healthcare professional.
- Always follow the recommendations of your healthcare professional.
- Please report serious adverse events to our customer service and the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices.
- The use of Cogthera is limited to a private IT system (e.g. the user's private smartphone).

Contraindications

Exclusion criteria are the unavailability of an internet-capable mobile device, complete immobility or the lack of sufficient German language skills. Further exclusion criteria are severe dementia or other forms of dementia according to ICD-10 (F01, F02 or F03) or a care level >3. Additional exclusion criteria:

- Cognitive or physical limitations that make the understanding of instructions and exercises in the application incorrect.
- Impaired sensory perception due to medication, injury or illness.

Other conditions, violations or limitations not listed herein may also render Cogthera unsuitable for use. It is therefore recommended that the treating doctor checks whether the exercises can be carried out safely within the Cogthera app before use.

Side effects and interactions

So far, no undesirable effects have occurred in connection with the intended use of Cogthera.
