How the web filter uses a VPN
The optional web filter uses Android's VpnService to block adult websites in the browsers and apps on your phone. It sets up a VPN on your device that carries only website address lookups (DNS). All your other internet traffic bypasses the VPN and goes out as normal. Each lookup is sent to the CleanBrowsing Family filter, encrypted with DNS-over-TLS wherever your network allows, and adult and filter-bypass sites are refused. The app does not record, store, sell or share your browsing history. You switch the web filter on yourself, after a clear explanation, and you can switch it off at any time.

Permissions, plainly
The Porn Blocker uses Android's Accessibility service only to detect and block adult content. Uninstall protection uses device administrator access only to stop the app being removed in a weak moment. Neither is switched on without your permission.
