BlockNSFW uses the Android AccessibilityService API to block apps you choose, to prevent its own uninstall, and to read the address bar in supported browsers so blocked sites can be covered. It sees the app you are using and that address text, processes both on your device only to decide whether to block, and never stores, collects, or shares them. Optional — turn it off anytime in Android's Accessibility settings.

BlockNSFW runs a local VPN on your device to filter DNS. It is not a remote VPN service — there is no server of ours, and your traffic is not tunneled or routed anywhere. Only DNS lookups pass through it: blocked sites are stopped on your device, and allowed lookups are forwarded to Cloudflare for Families over an encrypted connection. Android requires the VPN permission for this, which is why it shows a connection-request dialog.
