FIRST CENSUS OF SPRING

The First Spring Census Application is an innovative digital tool designed to support the nationwide initiative for systematic documentation and management of natural springs. Developed under the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, the application enables field scientists, government officials, and community workers to collect real-time data on spring characteristics, including location, discharge, water quality, and socio-environmental parameters.

By integrating GIS mapping, mobile data collection, and centralized databases, the platform ensures efficient monitoring, visualization, and analysis of spring resources. It aims to build a comprehensive Spring Inventory of India, supporting scientific studies, spring rejuvenation programs, and evidence-based decision-making for sustainable water security in hilly and tribal regions.

The application promotes transparency, collaboration, and accessibility, making spring data available to policymakers, researchers, and local communities for effective planning and conservation efforts.
