NoTap_Lite Post Keyboard Input

If a digital screen can be used to recognize stroke motions and you wish to compete with the keypad via finger motion, the only means to reach that goal is to simplify letter-representing strokes and speed up the input process. It is therefore absolutely necessary in the digital era of small computers to modify to some degree the old writing system to fit the new technology. NoTap_Lite is a free text input tool which introduces users to the UCS (Universal Computer Script) 'Stationary Recognition Writing' concept. It is a practice version built for text entry and note taking which allows one to experience how the system works and help determine whether one's smartphone is fast enough to handle it. NoTap is a more versatile alternative to your tiny keyboard. Its strokes still feel like English (Indo-European), yet most are more simple. It is fast, accurate, compact and requires little visual acuity to perform. Its recognition methodology is patented. NoTap offers European language support. (German, French, Spanish, Portuguese etc.) The Pro version offers a smartwatch configuration which is free.

OVERVIEW

To distil each English letter down to its most simple form was not a quick process. Years of trial and error were involved. To strive toward that end, a rough stroke system was established first and then later many times adjusted in order to find that one most perfect set which fit all English compatibility and efficiency requirements (most used = most simple). After about two decades of rearranging and testing, a definitive understanding developed which allowed an objective determination of what strokes fit within the simple UCS writing style and precisely where to put them within the English character system. NoTap is the culmination of that long testing process.

PRO version (BEYOND JUST LEARNING)
The NoTap Pro app has two parts. NoTap Pro can 1) replace the generic smartphone keypad if the setting is changed for it to become the current pop up keyboard (This also goes for the smartwatch configuration.) and 2) act as a stand alone app for writing, note taking, list making, text input etc..

YOUR SMARTPHONE PERFORMANCE
The major problem is speed. Only in the later part of 2021 was the cpu speed and screen refresh rate of some non-gaming smartphones finally reaching the threshold for adequate processing speed to provide almost instantaneous stroke recognition / character output. The stand out smartphone for the 2021 speed test was the Motorola Edge 5G UW (2021). (144 Hz top refresh rate and snapdragon CPU.) It's speed reaches through the envelope and provides (even in 2025) the best performance for this new system. Other phones with lessor performance just slow down the recognition process.

LEARN THE SYSTEM
There is no time limit to learn NoTap. It is all a matter of personal preference. After about a month of practicing NoTap a few minutes a day, one's desire to tap the generic keypad will diminish. Once mastered, looking at one's precise finger position is no longer a part of the input process. Text input is calm, non-distracting, long endurance and low eye straining.

THE STROKES
NoTap strokes and their positions are not up for debate. They follow specific rules similar to musical notes. Not one symbol is so far off its English counterpart that it cannot be quickly adjusted to.
