Classic YouTube Design [DISCONTINUED]

This Chrome extension aimed to recreate the classic YouTube experience within YouTube's new Polymer layout. Since the old non-Polymer design was discontinued in March 2020, this extension used custom CSS and JavaScript to imitate the classic interface up to about 85%. Despite its efforts, it could not fully replicate the performance or exact look of the old layout due to structural changes and limitations imposed by the new layout.

Key Details:

Discontinued due to lack of developer time, shrinking demand, and frequent YouTube changes.
Does not improve performance as it relies on the new Polymer substructure.
Incomplete features include dark mode support and full 1:1 design replication.
Recommended alternatives with better maintenance and dark mode support are YouTube Redux and YT Classic Polymer.

While the extension is no longer maintained, it was an early attempt to preserve the classic YouTube user experience for fans reluctant to adopt the newer interface changes.
