People are aware of the need for privacy while browsing online, but don’t always remember to protect it. Our extension reminds you of the importance of your browsing privacy by offering you a quick access link to the private search engine of your choice right from the address bar of your Chrome when you type privacy-related keywords or terms.
Inside this extension, we support DuckDuckGo (Default), Startpage, MetaGer, and Qwant. You can visit the Settings section from inside the extension and do further customization.
Permissions used and reasons:
- Access to “contextMenus”. We require this permission in order to add more items containing information about this extension to the menu.
- Access to “cookies”. We require this permission to modify your search engine.
- Change your default search engine. To provide the main functionality from within the autocomplete suggestions of this extension, we require this permission to change your default search engine to our domain privatemodesearch.net, powered by Yahoo. If you want to choose a different option, in this extension we support Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
