Review summary

YesScript2 offers strong performance gains from blocking scripts, with a flexible three-state control and easy usability. It helps block ads and can bypass some paywalls. However, recurring issues include Recaptcha blocking in no-block mode and occasional site breakage due to blocking resources.
Pros
  • Significant performance gains: blocking scripts reduces CPU usage and makes many sites snappier.
  • Three-state blocking: option to block no JS, local JS, or all JS for fine-grained control.
  • Easy to use and straightforward to configure.
  • Effectively blocks scripts, ads, and pop-ups, reducing clutter and speeding up page loads.
  • Helpful for bypassing paywalls or gating on some sites.
Cons
  • Recaptcha is blocked even when set to no-block, which hurts usability on some sites.
  • Some sites exhibit breakage or CSP-related errors when blocking scripts (site compatibility issues).

2026-03-16 Dr***** This site fixes Amazon CPU usage, and constant CPU spikes when using Firefox. Amazon's website went from unusable to snappy instantly after turning on full blocking. Though, it does block some functionality, but for just browsing, it is a godsend. Having to toggle through the 3 levels of blocking when needing to access context buttons for menus and organizing cart/wishlist is better than waiting 3-5 seconds for hover-menus and the hyperlinks actually becoming clickable.

2025-11-08 Fi***** I can confirm YesScript2 works on Firefox 144.0.2 (the current version as I post this) on my brand new Lenovo 14" IdeaPad laptop with up-to-date Windows 11. Tip: Be sure to enable the "[x] Pin extension icon to toolbar" in the pop-up prompt when installing, otherwise you'll have to uninstall and try again. Yes, the grey icon can be moved on the toolbar like other icons.
