Speakeasy — Private Messages

By: Burdchef App
Encrypted messaging without a phone number, an email, or your real name.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Speakeasy is a private messenger built on the premise that you shouldn't have to hand over your phone number, your email, or your real name to talk to someone you trust.

When you sign up, you pick a handle — anything you want, like @alice or @midnight_traveler — and the app generates a fresh cryptographic identity on your device. No personal information ever leaves your phone. Nothing about who you are gets sent anywhere.

WHAT YOU GET

• End-to-end encryption on every message and call, using the Signal Protocol that powers Signal and WhatsApp. The server only ever sees ciphertext — even the team that runs Speakeasy cannot read your messages.

• Anonymous identity. Your handle is yours. There is no phone number to look up, no email to compromise, no real name to leak in a breach.

• Private Calls with voice masking. When you call a friend, your voice goes through one of three customizable filters (Smoke, Velvet, or Glass) before it reaches their phone — even your peer hears a different voice from your actual one. Pick the voice that fits.

• Group rooms with the same E2E guarantees as 1:1 chats. Up to 50 members per room.

• No ads. No analytics that link to a real-world identity. No data broker pipelines. The business model is paid subscriptions for advanced features, not selling your data.

WHO BUILT IT

Speakeasy is built by a small team that wanted a private messenger that didn't ask for the keys to the rest of your life as the price of admission. The protocol layer is open-source and uses libsignal, the same library Signal Messenger Foundation maintains. The brand layer is ours.

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS

Speakeasy does not collect personal information. Read the full privacy policy at https://speakeasyapp.xyz/privacy/ for the technical details of what is and isn't kept on our servers.

If you delete your account, we delete your handle (releasing it back to the pool), your prekey bundle, and your encrypted message-relay buffer. The messages already delivered to your peers stay on their devices — we cannot reach into someone else's phone to delete them.
