Web Scrobbler

Scrobble music all around the web!

Features & Capabilities

Web Scrobbler is an open-source Chrome extension that automatically scrobbles your music playback from many web players to Last.fm, Libre.fm, and ListenBrainz. It shows scrobbler status in the toolbar, optionally sends desktop notifications for now-playing tracks, and lets you grant account access on first load. If a track is misidentified you can manually correct title and artist directly from the extension.

Maintained by a community of contributors on GitHub, Web Scrobbler provides a lightweight, privacy-friendly way to keep a listening history across services. If the extension stops working, report issues on the project’s GitHub issues page. See the options page for configuration and further details.

User Reviews

Web Scrobbler is praised for broad site support, stability, and easy configuration, with strong metadata editing options. The main drawbacks mentioned by multiple users are the lack of a pause control, inconsistent scrobble accuracy and metadata across sites, and update-related compatibility issues. Overall, it remains a highly useful, versatile Firefox extension for Last.fm scrobbling, valued by long-time users for its coverage and configurability.
Pros
  • Very broad site compatibility that covers many services (YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, NTS and other self-hosted platforms) for Last.fm scrobbling.
  • Stable and feature-rich with years of reliable use; generally easy to set up and configure.
  • Offers a rich set of editing options for metadata, helping fix or refine scrobble data when needed.
Cons
  • Lacks a built-in pause control for scrobbling; users repeatedly request an easy pause/CTA button to stop scrobbling video chapters.
  • Inconsistent scrobbling accuracy and metadata across sites (some tracks missed, metadata incorrect, or album art issues on certain services such as VK); Bandcamp may skip tracks and YouTube Music may require manual steps.
  • Update/compatibility issues; users report long waits for updates or occasional breakage after updates, affecting some sites or features (e.g., Yandex Music, VK cover art).
