Web Scrobbler

Scrobble music all around the web!

Web Scrobbler is a powerful Chrome extension designed for music lovers who want to scrobble their playback history from a wide range of online music streaming services. Supporting popular platforms such as Last.fm, Libre.fm, and ListenBrainz, it allows users to seamlessly track their listening habits without missing a beat.

Users can easily grant access to their music accounts after the initial setup notification, view scrobler status conveniently on the toolbar, and even manually correct song details if the extension doesn’t recognize a track. Web Scrobbler enhances your music tracking experience with optional desktop notifications of now playing songs and places community support front and center through its active Discord server. Privacy is respected, with limited data collection strictly for analytics purposes and no personal data accessed on supported websites.

User reviews

Web Scrobbler is praised for its support of multiple music services, effective scrobbling on YouTube and Pandora, and ease of use. However, multiple users report frequent bugs and breakages after recent updates, especially affecting YouTube scrobbles. Compatibility issues exist on some platforms like Last.fm on Mac and domestic Chinese music services. Interface glitches and problems handling songs with multiple artists are also noted. Overall, it remains an essential tool for Last.fm users but needs more stable updates and broader compatibility.
Pros
  • Supports multiple music services and scrobbles to Last.fm effectively.
  • Works well with YouTube and Pandora on Edge browser.
  • Provides a hassle-free and essential scrobbling experience for music enthusiasts.
  • Has a good user interface and functionality appreciated by users.
  • Direct availability as an Edge add-on is a positive development.
Cons
  • Recent updates cause frequent breakages and bugs, especially with YouTube scrobbling.
  • Issues with tracking music on certain platforms like Last.fm on MacBook and domestic (Chinese) music platforms.
  • Scrobble window interface glitches like being cut off or displaying improperly.
  • Chrome Web Store version on Edge tends to be glitchy, recommending the native Edge version instead.
  • Problems with scrobbling songs featuring multiple artists.
Recent reviews
Ever since the new update, it breaks differently every few days. It will not track your listening report when you listen to soundtracks on YouTube. Sometimes, it will auto-delete the information you add and suddenly lock up, resulting in gibberish in your library. I cannot believe that developers are quite inept at making this lousy extension functional. It is one of the worst tools ever. I wish there were an alternative that was better coded and more advanced than this hot mess. If I could give this tool a zero, I would do so without a second thought. Horrible.
