VT4Browsers + Google TI Firefox

VT4Browsers + Google TI

Designed to bring Google Threat Intelligence's power directly into your web activity. It allows you to quickly check the safety of files before downloading them, scan sites while browsing, and vet suspicious elements without leaving your current tab

Features & Capabilities

VT4Browsers is enhanced with Google Threat Intelligence data, turning GTI into a critical resource for enterprise security analysts. It auto-detects and enriches IoCs (IPs, hashes, URLs, domains) on any webpage, surfacing an at-a-glance Detection Ratio and GTI Enrichment hovercards for fast triage. Analysts can click to open the Integrated GTI Widget in a side panel for full attribution and context, enabling collaboration and tracking of IoCs on a page. The extension also provides proactive download protection by scanning files before download. Built on VirusTotal foundations and integrating Mandiant and Google core visibility, it remains stack-agnostic and accelerates investigations right where you work.

User Reviews

Users like the addon for speeding up VirusTotal checks and enhancing safety, and view it as well built when functional. However, multiple reviews point to reliability and compatibility problems, including Bootstrap-related site breakage, VT communication/scanning failures, and conflicts with other extensions or specific sites. The tool is useful in principle, but requires fixes to reliability and cross-site compatibility.
Pros
  • Faster VirusTotal checks and link/file scanning, saving time and clicks.
  • Adds an extra layer of safety by screening content before you click or download.
  • Generally well built and helpful, with a positive impact when it works.
Cons
  • Breaks site functionality on some pages, notably Bootstrap dropdowns and related interactive elements.
  • VT4Browsers sometimes fails to communicate with VirusTotal or to show scan prompts, leading to unreliable scanning.
  • Compatibility issues with other extensions and certain sites (e.g., PayPal sign-in) causing page or feature breakage.
Recent reviews
I was running v5.0.3 on Firefox 150.0.1. OS Windows 11 (latest). My system would freeze for a few minutes and work for a about one minute. Disabling the extension did not change the freezing. Once removed from Firefox, the system was normal. No reboots done.
