Tujenge — Chama Management Made Transparent

Tujenge replaces the treasurer's notebook with a secure digital ledger built specifically for Kenyan savings groups (chamas). Every contribution, loan, and repayment is recorded, verified, and visible to every member — so your group's money is always accounted for.

M-PESA CONTRIBUTION TRACKING

When a member sends their monthly contribution via M-Pesa, they open Tujenge and submit their M-Pesa reference code along with the amount. The treasurer or secretary reviews the claim, verifies it against their M-Pesa statement, and confirms it in the app. No more chasing members on WhatsApp, no more disputed payments, no more missing receipts.

Every contribution shows the member name, M-Pesa reference code, amount, and verification status — visible to all group members at a glance.

CONTRIBUTION CYCLES

Tujenge tracks monthly contribution cycles so the group can see at a glance who has paid and who hasn't. The home screen shows the current cycle, total group balance, and a contribution ring that fills as members pay in. Officials can see exactly which members are pending for the month
GROUP LOANS

Members can apply for loans directly from the group fund within the app. Each loan request includes the amount, purpose, and proposed repayment period. The chairperson reviews applications and sets the interest rate before approving or rejecting.

Once approved, repayments are recorded in the ledger as members pay back. Outstanding loan balances and repayment history are always visible to group officials.

MEMBER ROLES

Tujenge supports four roles so every group can manage itself the way it actually works:

- Chairperson — approves or rejects loans, manages group settings, sets the default interest rate
- Secretary — manages member invitations and verifies contributions
- Treasurer — verifies M-Pesa contributions and manages the ledger
- Member — submits contributions, applies for loans, views group activity

Members join a chama using a private join code shared by the secretary or chairperson.

APPEND-ONLY LEDGER

Every transaction recorded in Tujenge is permanent. Nothing can be quietly deleted, altered, or backdated after it is confirmed. This protects every member equally — the treasurer cannot change a record to cover a gap, and no one can dispute what was officially verified.

If a mistake is made, a correcting entry is added. The original record stays.

MONTHLY PDF STATEMENTS

Generate a clean, printable PDF statement for any month with a single tap. Each statement includes the full list of transactions, member contribution status, loan activity, and the group's opening and closing balance.
