[TST] Colorize Tabs Firefox

[TST] Colorize Tabs

This extension allows to set individual color for each tab in order to highlight it

Features & Capabilities

[TST] Colorize Tabs is a browser extension designed to help users highlight and organize their tabs by assigning individual colors. It requires the Tree Style Tab extension to function properly. You can easily set colors such as red, green, blue, yellow, brown, purple, and orange to selected tabs using convenient keyboard shortcuts. Additionally, users can customize the colors using Tree Style Tab's custom CSS, allowing for a personalized browsing experience.

This extension enhances tab management by enabling swift navigation between colorized tabs with keyboard commands. Note that it may conflict with other tab color-changing extensions, and colors won't be restored once tabs are closed and reopened. For increased productivity and visual organization, [TST] Colorize Tabs offers a straightforward and effective solution.

User Reviews

The [TST] Colorize Tabs Firefox add-on is appreciated for enhancing tab management, especially in combination with Tree Style Tabs, aiding users with ADHD, and improving tab findability. However, multiple users report that colors only appear in the sidebar, not the main tab bar, and that colorization does not persist after restarting Firefox. Some find it buggy and inconsistent, with colors sometimes applying randomly or incorrectly. Additionally, some users mention the add-on does not function at all, and there is a lack of developer support or updates.
Pros
  • Helps in managing tabs, especially useful for users with ADHD.
  • Works well when used with the Tree Style Tabs add-on as intended.
  • Improves tab findability significantly when colorization is applied manually.
  • Provides a feature that many users have been looking for to colorize tabs in the sidebar.
Cons
  • Colors only appear in the Tree Style Tabs sidebar, not on the main tab bar, which some users find confusing or limiting.
  • Colorized tabs do not persist after browser restart; colors get lost or applied incorrectly.
  • Buggy behavior such as random coloring of tabs, colors applied to wrong tabs or windows, and inconsistent performance.
  • Lack of developer responsiveness and updates, possibly due to the developer’s situation in Ukraine.
  • Does not work for some users at all, even after installing required dependencies or themes.
Recent reviews
Installed the extension and it doesn't colorize the tabs on the tab bar. Only in the sidebar, which i don't use. It does what it says it does, but the color only being applied on the sidebar tabs should be explicitly mentioned in the description imo. Not sure if this is happening because i have a firefox theme or not tho.
