Trustium Firefox

Trustium

Trustium identifies credible news from questionable content as well as opinion, satire and one-sided.

Features & Capabilities

Trustium identifies credible news from questionable content as well as opinion, satire and one-sided. The Trustium (Beta) is now available - try it out and let us know what works and what doesn't!

Trustium blends advanced machine learning models with a human rating system to identify and distinguish sound journalism from opinion, satire and content masquerading as quality news.

We know understanding the credibility of news is confusing. Trustium's at-a-glance simple red, orange and green icons directly on the browser extension allow you to immediately understand the type of news you are consuming.

Each news article you read is analyzed by Trustium's algorithms, which compare it to other articles while looking for signs of bias, clickbait and other forms of misinformation.

User Reviews

This add on seems to do a good job at categorizing news articles. It doesn't group everything from one site together like most of the other news review apps. I've seen pages get good and bad reviews on both left leaning and right leaning sites. It seems to be pretty unbiased! Quite helpful

This is a great addition to help me sort out what is on my news feed and what is real from the stuff my friends are sending me. I like the link that tells you more information about the site itself. I am sharing this with my friends so maybe they will check on their information. I like that it tells you how likely something is to be well written and not what to think. I can also add my feedback. Unlike some of the fake news apps, it goes by article and doesn't just tell me the site is bad. This can make the world a better place.

yet another BS "fake news" identifier - read their "privacy" policy from their website... "Protect yourself from misinformation! Be informed, and never mistakenly re-share something that isn’t trustworthy." in other words, do not install this garbage

Is Trustium Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Trustium requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.
