Trace Firefox

Trace

By: Trace
Track fanfiction reading: import AO3/FFN metadata into Trace and sync progress.

Features & Capabilities

Trace requires a free account at tracefiction.com before the extension can save stories.

Trace helps you keep track of what you saved, where you stopped, what you dropped, and what you meant to come back to.

The Trace extension works on AO3 and FanFiction.net while you browse. It adds small status labels to archive pages so you can see whether a fic is already in your library, what reading status it has, and where you left off.

You can add stories to your Trace library without leaving the archive. Saved stories sync to your Trace account, so you can find them later from your phone or laptop.

The extension popup also shows your personal notes and tags for saved stories, when you have added them in Trace.

Trace includes Collections, which let you group stories by theme, fandom, reading plan, recommendation list, or anything else you want to keep together. Collections can stay private or be shared with a public link.

Trace is an unofficial AO3 and FanFiction.net companion. Your library is private, story text is never collected, and there are no ads or data selling.

Is Trace Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Trace requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Trace is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
