Toggle Referrer (with optional spoofing feature)

Disables or enables sending of the referrer. An optional spoofing feature sends spoofed referrers to problematic servers.

Features & Capabilities

Toggle Referrer is a Chrome extension designed to enhance your online privacy by controlling the HTTP Referrer header sent to websites. The Referrer reveals your previous page to the site you visit, which can be used to track your browsing path and movement profile. This extension allows you to completely disable the referrer with a single click and easily re-enable it for sites that require it for proper functionality.

Key features include a visible red flag on the toolbar indicating when the referrer is enabled, automatic disabling on browser startup to maintain privacy, and an optional spoofing feature. The spoofing function sends fake referrer data to certain problematic websites, allowing access even when the real referrer is disabled. With Toggle Referrer, users gain simple yet powerful control over their referrer information, safeguarding privacy without compromising web compatibility.

User Reviews

I using Toggle Referrer since long time. But new, since a few days, is the behavior that embeded YouTube Videos on websites will not work any longer until the Referrer is off. Maybe you have an idea for some piece of code to put into those embeded Youtube Iframes, that they still will run while User have Tools like Toggle Referrer on.
