Tap To Tab Firefox

Tap To Tab

By: em_te
Double click (or finger tap twice) on any link to open it into a new Tab. Designed for tablets and laptop trackpads, which don't have two buttons on their mouse.

Features & Capabilities

Tap To Tab is a Chrome extension designed for touch-screen tablets and laptops with trackpads that lack two-button mice. It enables users to open any link in a new tab simply by double-clicking (or tapping twice) the link, providing a faster alternative to the traditional right-click and 'open link in new tab' menu option.

This extension offers configurable settings allowing users to choose whether to open the new tab in the foreground or background, position the new tab next to the current one or at the end of the tab strip, and maintain a blacklist of domains where the extension should be inactive. By streamlining the process of opening links in new tabs, Tap To Tab enhances browsing efficiency on devices where right-click actions are cumbersome.

User Reviews

Tap To Tab is praised for making browsing easier on desktop by removing middle-clicks and letting you set where new tabs open. It’s seen as an indispensable, helpful extension, especially on Windows. However, multiple reviews note recurring drawbacks: YouTube and Google Image search compatibility issues, conflicts with other extensions, and Android Firefox support gaps. Occasional navigation quirks when handling multiple taps are also mentioned. Overall, strong usefulness offsets some stability and compatibility concerns.

I love this extension, but lately it's been having issues with the Google image search page. When I click on an image to preview it, it opens in a new tab, which is really annoying.
