Tabhunter Firefox

Tabhunter

Find tabs in Mozilla-based browsers easily

Features & Capabilities

Tabhunter is a powerful Chrome extension designed to simplify tab management in Mozilla-based browsers like Firefox and Chrome. It enables users to quickly search through dozens of open tabs using standard JavaScript regex, highlighting and bringing the desired tab to the forefront with ease. In addition to tab search, Tabhunter can identify tabs playing audio, allowing users to pinpoint and control sound sources among hundreds of open tabs.

The extension offers advanced features such as managing discarded tab statuses, moving tabs between windows, and bookmarking selected tabs (Firefox only). Tabhunter operates entirely locally, ensuring your browsing data remains private without transmitting information externally. Customize font sizes and enjoy a streamlined workflow, freeing you from tab chaos and enhancing your browsing productivity.

User Reviews

Tabhunter provides fast, fuzzy searching and effective tab management (including an audio-only filter and bulk actions) for users with many tabs. However, its hotkey support is unreliable and not easily customizable, the UI is cramped and non-resizable, dark themes can make text hard to read, and some users report stability issues after Firefox updates.
Pros
  • Fast, fuzzy live search across many tabs.
  • Audio-only filter helps locate tabs producing sound quickly.
  • Bulk actions for cleanup (bulk close/delete).
  • Handles very large tab sets (hundreds) reliably.
  • Described as sophisticated/tab-inspector quality and a life-saver for heavy tab users.
Cons
  • Hotkeys/keyboard shortcuts don't work or can't be customized.
  • Ugly UI and poor UX: small/non-resizable window; not available as a sidebar.
  • Readability issues with dark themes due to hard-coded text colors.
  • Stability/compatibility problems after Firefox updates; some versions become unusable or require older builds.
Recent reviews
It's great. So far I've only used it to find one my 1000 tabs in 20 windows that is making no-longer-wanted sounds but it's worth it for that alone. I may start using it to find other tabs too. It causes no problems.

Good functionality. Ugly UX and not as smooth as it could be.

This extension has changed my life. First, being able to identify open tabs with audio playing after restoring a session! Second, quickly finding my tabs and tab groups! Giant time saver. Thank you!
