Sputnik

Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) web extension for IPs, Domains, File Hashes, and URLs

Features & Capabilities

Sputnik is a powerful open-source Chrome extension designed to streamline Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) investigations. It enables users to quickly select artifacts like IP addresses, domains, file hashes, or URLs and instantly perform searches using a curated list of free OSINT resources.

Using Sputnik is intuitive: simply highlight the target text or right-click on links, images, audio, or videos to access a context menu offering a variety of OSINT tools. Results or submission pages open directly, and selected data is copied to the clipboard for easy reuse. This extension is ideal for security analysts, researchers, and digital investigators seeking efficient access to intelligence data without leaving their browser.

The extension's source code and an updated list of supported OSINT tools are openly available on GitHub, underscoring its transparency and community-driven development. Note that due to Mozilla's API limitations, Firefox Android is not supported.

Is Sputnik Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Sputnik requires very minimum permissions.
