User Reviews

Users praise Simple Gesture for Android for reliable pull-to-refresh, smoother mobile navigation, and a clean, intuitive UI, often calling it a top mobile extension. However, reviews commonly request two-finger gesture support, report occasional update-related glitches, and note that hiding notifications/timeouts or clipboard-access permissions would improve privacy and UX.
Pros
  • Delivers reliable pull-to-refresh and reduces unintended refreshes, outperforming Firefox's built-in option.
  • Intuitive, clean UI with easy-to-understand gesture configuration and good overall UX.
  • Significantly improves mobile navigation and tab/page management on Android Firefox, enhancing daily browsing.
  • High user satisfaction and strong positive sentiment, with reviewers calling it a favorite/GOAT mobile extension.
Cons
  • Two-finger (or multi-finger) gesture support is missing and frequently requested by users.
  • Some users report update-related issues (e.g., scrolling glitches) affecting usability.
  • Notifications/timeouts are not easily hidable, and clipboard-access permissions raise privacy concerns for some users.

I use this extension for one feature, and one feature only — pull to refresh. The built-in Firefox Android pull to refresh option is straight up broken, and has been broken for years now. After trying many pull to refresh extensions, it's clear to me this one gets the job done best. No more random unintended refreshes. Some small annoyances preventing five stars though. "Simple gestures for Android" is full of other options that you need to disable one by one, then enable only pull to refresh, it's a pretty tedious process. Selecting a good gesture window/delay time is tricky, too long and you'll trigger some accidental refreshes, too short and you won't be fast enough to trigger a refresh when you want one. Ideally I should be using a longer delay window and have the ability to swipe up to cancel it. But, clearly the gesture engine here doesn't support something like that. That said, the 750ms time I've settled on works well enough, and still far better than the built in Firefox pull to refresh. One bug I've encountered is, if a page fails to load, pull to refresh (and probably the entire extension) doesn't function at all. You essentially need a fully loaded html website to do your refresh. It's not a common issue, but every now and then you'll run into a bad spot for internet, or a link will be temporarily broken, forcing you to use the traditional refresh button. This may not actually be a bug though — I'm not sure that extensions can interact with an empty web page.
