SecureIntent Firefox

SecureIntent

Warns you before you paste API keys, tokens, or passwords into AI chats and other sites — all on-device, your text never leaves.

Features & Capabilities

Warns you before you paste API keys, tokens, or passwords into AI chats and other sites — all on-device, your text never leaves.

SecureIntent warns you the moment you're about to paste an API key, token, password, or other secret into a website where it doesn't belong — like AI chat and coding assistants.

How it works • Detection runs entirely on your device. Your pasted text is never sent anywhere. • When a secret is detected, a warning appears with clear choices: Cancel, Paste anyway, or Paste anonymously — which redacts the secret and pastes the rest. • Pasting a large log? It can strip out secrets, IP addresses, and emails in one step before the text goes in. • Only an anonymous, one-way fingerprint of a detected secret is ever sent, and only for aggregate reporting — never the secret itself, and never your text.

What it detects A wide range of credentials: API keys and access tokens from major cloud and developer platforms, private keys, high-entropy secrets, and common key = value credential patterns. Broad matches (such as card numbers) are confirmed by on-device validators to keep false positives low.

Where it works Popular AI chat and coding assistants get dedicated support, and a catch-all guard covers text fields on other sites. Protection happens wherever you paste.

Free & Pro Core detection and warnings are free, including a monthly allowance of Anonymise & Paste. Pro unlocks unlimited Anonymise & Paste, large-log sanitizing, restoring anonymized values later in the same session, and a PIN lock for high-risk cloud consoles. Pro is entirely optional — the free protection works with no sign-up.

Privacy first Raw pasted text never leaves your device. The extension only computes a salted, one-way hash on-device for anonymous reporting. No sign-up to get started, no browsing tracking, and we never sell your data.

User Reviews

SecureIntent is a simple but useful extension for developers who regularly use AI tools. It helps catch potentially sensitive information before you accidentally paste it into an AI chatbot. I like that it works quietly in the background without getting in the way of my workflow. The concept is practical, especially for developers who work with source code, credentials, API keys, or other sensitive information. Definitely worth trying if you use AI tools frequently while coding.

Is SecureIntent Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

SecureIntent requires a lot of sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

SecureIntent is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
