Secret Bookmarks Firefox

Secret Bookmarks

This extension provides the ability to password encrypt the bookmark entries inside of a bookmark folder. The extension is normally accessed from the navbar icon. Select the toggle next to a folder to setup a passphrase and encrypt/decrypt content.

Features & Capabilities

A simple browser extension that allows encrypting bookmarks folders with password protection.

  • Encrypt bookmark URL and Title
  • Non-recursive encryption of all bookmarks in a folder
  • Synchronized storage of encryption keys (if enabled)
  • Password change
  • Key deletion and import/export
  • Hybrid encryption scheme, password protected RSA-2048 key pair used to encrypt per-bookmark AES-256 key
  • Adding or moving bookmark to encrypted folder will encrypt seamlessly
WARNING: Moving an encrypted bookmark entry to another folder will not decrypt the entry. This entry will need to be returned to its original folder to decrypt. Decryption errors may occur if an encrypted bookmark is moved to another Secret Bookmarks managed folder without decrypting first.
