Various tweaks to customise your Reddit experience. Supports all versions of Reddit.

Features & Capabilities

Reddit Enhancer is a Chrome extension that lets you personalize your Reddit experience with just a few clicks. It supports both Old Reddit and the latest Reddit interface, giving you control over layout and appearance to suit your viewing preferences.

Key features include resizing the feed and post width, theming with custom colors and a background wallpaper, hiding promoted posts and ads, and removing clutter for a cleaner Reddit. You can open images in their own tab, scale tall images, and scroll to the next root comment with a click. Reading enhancements include Bionic Reading and adjustable font size for faster reading. The extension also shows missing post authors on the latest Reddit and supports multiple languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, and Ukrainian. Privacy is respected—no data is collected and the extension does not track users.

User Reviews

Users repeatedly praise Reddit Enhancer for its customization and clutter-reducing features, which improve navigation and overall usability. They value themes and old-Reddit compatibility, as well as keyword filtering. However, several reviews note performance problems (lag, freezes, crashes) after updates and occasional feature instability. Some users request additional features (mute/ban options, persistent extension window). Overall, it’s a powerful, user-driven tool that shines when it runs smoothly but can suffer from stability issues.
Pros
  • Highly customizable interface and features that let users tailor Reddit to their preferences.
  • Removes clutter by hiding or eliminating elements like Popular/All buttons, Trending Now, and left side menu for a cleaner browsing experience.
  • Significantly improves usability and navigation, making Reddit feel more usable and less frustrating.
  • Offers theme and color customization (including mid-mode) to reduce eye strain, plus options to modernize old Reddit.
  • Supports content control such as keyword filtering to hide posts that match user-defined terms.
Cons
  • Performance issues reported by multiple users, including lag, freezes, and crashes after updates, impacting the browsing experience.

Update: Turns out that changing the "Visited Post: Text Colour" setting doesn't work for me for some reason... After an hour or so of messing around with various things, I had the bright idea to see what my LTSC version of Firefox thought, and it worked fine on there; yet another half-an-hour later, and it turns out (as it always does) to be the last modified setting on the list that's causing the issue... Setting "Productivity > Comments > Default Comments Sort Option" to "On" overrides ALL attempts to change the visited link colour — even via the "Visited Post: Text Colour". Now that I've found the culprit, my AuDHD can rest easy again; thanks for inspiring me to have another delve into the issue! Original Review: It's great at what it does (and there's a hell of a lot of useful stuff in there) but I've had to stop using it because it hijacks the visited hyperlink colour (both unvisited and visited links are the same) and I can't see at a glance which links I've already clicked on while this is active... It's a shame because it does so much, but all that is largely moot when it breaks a fundamental part of using Reddit in the first place.

I wonder if it's possible to add a "search only under this subreddit" reddit has been making the search almost impossible to use recently...
